Do you constantly find that everything you bake comes out dry, overcooked or burned - even when you are following your recipes by the letter?
There is something very simple that you might be doing that is causing this. It may be something that is common knowledge to some, but I had to figure it out through trial and error for a very long time before I finally learned what I was doing wrong.
You are leaving your baked goods in the oven for too long!
I know this sounds stupid and oversimplified and a little obvious, but hear me out. Even if you are following the directions on the box for your favorite cookies or cake, you will still end up over-baking your item in most cases.
Why?
Because your cakes and cookies will continue to bake even after you take them out of the oven. It is actually pretty simple: The heat of the pan and the heat of the baked goods themselves will continue to bake.
So if you take your cookies out of the oven a couple minutes early and they still look a little mushy, just let them sit on the cookie sheet for a minute and they will turn out perfectly.
If you take the cake out of the oven when it is still mushy and wet in the middle, the heat of the cake surrounding that mushy middle will finish the baking process after you take it out of the oven without burning the rest of the cake.
I hope this helps some of you!
